My new book, "Réaliste", is published today by Éditions Stock. It brings together my reflections as a psychiatrist and explorer with the aim of restoring hope, to get out of the dilemma between those who advocate degrowth to protect the environment and those who believe that unlimited growth is the only way to make our society work. 200 pages to share my vision with all those who are ready to question their certainties to ensure the future of humanity.

The problems are known. What we need now are solutions. As a trained psychiatrist, I know that we cannot change human nature. I am convinced that we will not win the climate battle by asking people to give up modern comforts. Moreover, economic degrowth to save the planet, as some suggest, would lead to a collapse of our social system. On the contrary, our wasteful and inefficient society endangers the very survival of humanity. We must therefore change our approach to human nature, reverse the discourse and propose another logic: that of an economically profitable ecology. But we must also awaken enthusiasm and lead the population, environmentalists, companies and governments into a climate action in which everyone would benefit. Replacing what pollutes with what protects the environment is an opportunity to be seized and represents the industrial market of the century. To show that this vision is not a pious hope, but a concrete reality involving all the players, we have identified, with the Solar Impulse Foundation, more than 1300 clean, efficient solutions capable of creating wealth and employment. They are proof that a new scenario is possible.
I propose that we change our altitude to approach environmental protection differently. From the childhood memories that forged my ecological sensitivity to my current work as a "climate psychiatrist", I would like to share with you my commitment to "realistic" action. You will find the foundations of a third way, "qualitative growth", reconciling ecology and economy.
There is no need to be pessimistic, or even optimistic, let's just be realistic: a unifying approach that is equal to the enormity of the challenge facing the future of our planet.
