Through these first pages, you will discover how this scenario of virtuous #industrial relaunching makes it possible to achieve #carbon neutrality in 2050, including by integrating imported emissions (carbon footprint approach).

The negaWatt scenario is part of a global approach to sustainability. It aims to respond to energy and climate imperatives, while moving towards a more sustainable, equitable and resilient society, by also addressing the issues of biodiversity, poverty, air pollution, etc.

Through its systemic dimension, this scenario fully contributes to the achievement of the 17 sustainable development objectives defined by the United Nations. Although it has its own limitations, this reference framework provides a relevant basis for considering the diversity of social, economic and environmental issues surrounding energy transition choices.

Climate: we can still act

The consequences of climate change are already visible, including in France, and the objective of not exceeding the +1.5°C global warming threshold seems increasingly out of reach. However, is it too late to act?

The answer is clearly no. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) showed in its report published in the summer of 20211 that limiting global warming to +1.5°C is still possible - although very difficult to achieve - under certain conditions. Because "every half degree counts, every year counts, every choice counts "2 and because the climate emergency is everyone's business, all the players must join forces, from the largest international organisations to each and every one of us.

Building an energy scenario starting from energy use - as negaWatt does - makes it possible to identify the solutions and concrete actions within our reach in order to make it possible to fight climate disruption and to implement a new social project
